With increased organizational capacity, the nonprofit aims to expand participation, enhance programming, and ensure long-term sustainability of this important civic event.
Event Activities & Program Highlights
The day’s programming is designed to reflect both historical reverence and community celebration:
• Community Prayer (8:00 AM | Courthouse Lawn)
The event will begin with a community-wide prayer to mark the beginning of America’s next 250 years. Inspired by Benjamin Franklin’s reflections on faith and governance, this gathering invites residents to give thanks and seek continued guidance, protection, and provision for the nation.
• Awards & Veterans Honors Ceremony (9:00 AM | Courthouse Lawn)
A formal ceremony will recognize the sacrifices and service of military members past and present. Programming includes presentation of colors, remarks from community leaders, and a public salute to veterans, reinforcing themes of service, remembrance, and national identity.
• Independence Day Parade (10:00 AM | Graham Downtown Square)
The centerpiece of the celebration, the parade will feature local organizations, businesses, veterans groups, and community members. Expanded participation is anticipated for the 250th anniversary, with increased opportunities for floats, sponsorships, and civic representation.
Additional activities throughout the day will encourage families and visitors to gather, celebrate, and connect—honoring both the history and future of the United States.

The event is designed to serve a broad and inclusive audience, including Young County residents, regional visitors, veterans and their families, civic organizations, and local businesses. Organizers anticipate strong attendance due to the significance of the 250th anniversary, with efforts focused on increasing tourism and regional engagement.
By combining historical reflection with community celebration, the event strengthens local identity while contributing to statewide America250 initiatives. It offers opportunities for intergenerational participation, education, and civic pride.
